Partnering with NHT Ingenuity Power for 1.15 MW Community Solar Project in Washington, D.C.

October 11, 2021 - Washington, D.C.

SunLight General partnered with NHT Ingenuity Power (NHTIP), a joint venture of National Housing Trust and Urban Ingenuity, to develop a 1.15 MW community solar facility in the District of Columbia at Pepco’s Benning Service Center.

This shared solar project will provide clean energy to the district and savings to low-to-moderate-income households through D.C.’s Department of Energy and Environment (DOEE) Solar for All program.

330 income-qualified households will see up to $500 in annual savings on their utility bill over a 15-year period thanks to the Benning solar project. SunLight General hopes to continue to support the DOEE’s Solar for All program in its goal of providing affordable, clean energy to 100,000 low- to moderate-income households with future community solar developments.

Edouard Klehe, Chief Investment Officer of SunLight General Capital, noted, "This project illustrates a successful cross-section of public, private and utility organizations working together to build a project that not only generates clean, renewable energy, but also provides meaningful economic benefits to the neighbors of the community.”
